Meagan Ward

Meagan studied Criminal Justice at the University of Regina before obtaining her Juris Doctorate (with Distinction) at the University of Saskatchewan in 2017. She was called to the bar in May of 2018. Meagan completed her articles at Wardell Gillis during which time she also participated in a secondment with Brian Pfefferle.
Prior to attending law school, Meagan worked at Walper-Bossence Law Office in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. During this time, she also participated in an internship at The Washington Centre in Washington, D.C. where she worked at a local law firm specializing in criminal defence and civil litigation.
Meagan has successfully defended clients charged with a variety of offences. Her cases frequently include domestic violence, assault, sexual assault, DUI/Impaired Driving, robbery, arson, fraud, theft, shoplifting, firearms and weapons offences, murder, manslaughter and drug offences.
Meagan has successfully appeared in all levels of court in Saskatchewan including Provincial Court, the Court of King’s Bench, and the Court of Appeal.
Meagan also frequently represents youth in Youth Criminal Justice Act matters, and represents university students facing allegations of academic and non-academic misconduct. She has represented clients at both the hearing and appeal levels.
Meagan enjoys golfing and spending summers at the lake with family. Meagan is a dog lover and has a schnoodle named Charlie.
Laura Mischuk

Laura was born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She completed her undergraduate degree in Sociology with Great Distinction at the University of Saskatchewan in 2012 and went on to complete her law degree at the University of Victoria in 2015. She was called to the bar in 2016. Laura practices exclusively in the areas of criminal defence and family law.
Laura worked at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary for three summers while obtaining her undergraduate degree. Laura gained extensive knowledge of and experience with the criminal justice system through these opportunities prior to her call to the bar. She regularly appears in Saskatchewan Provincial Court, Saskatchewan Court of King’s Bench and the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal. Laura travels to all areas of Saskatchewan, including remote northern communities, and represents clients charged with any and all criminal offences. Laura spends most of her time advocating for clients in court. Laura has successfully defended clients in a variety of criminal matters, including assaults (domestic and otherwise), sexual assaults, robberies, impaired driving (DUI’s), weapons offences, fraud, theft, property crimes, drug trafficking, manslaughter and murder.
Laura also assists clients with numerous family law issues in court, including parenting (custody and access), child support, property division and spousal support matters. In addition to advocating for clients in family court, Laura has extensive experience resolving family matters outside the court system via interspousal agreements and negotiations.
When away from the office, Laura enjoys staying active. Laura played soccer competitively while growing up in Prince Albert and was a member of Team Saskatchewan. She also enjoys playing tennis, skiing and travelling in her spare time.
Logan Marchand

Logan graduated from the College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan in 2017, where he graduated with distinction and was awarded the Gabe Burkart Memorial Award for achieving the highest average in his year across Criminal Law focused classes.
After getting called to the bar in 2018, Logan spent his first years in private practice focusing primarily on criminal defence and then spent a year employed with the Ministry of Justice as a Crown Prosecutor for the Province of Saskatchewan.
Logan has advocated for clients at all court levels in Saskatchewan and was a past presenter for the Saskatoon Criminal Defence Lawyer’s Association. Logan has extensive knowledge and practical experience from both sides of the criminal justice system which allows him to give his clients an effective defence
Outside of court, Logan spends most of his time at the dog-park with his Bernedoodle Winnie.
Patrick A. Thomson

Patrick was born in Edmonton and raised in Saskatoon. Patrick began his legal career later in life following a career in heavy construction and project management. He was called to the bar in 2018 and prior to founding Ward Mischuk Thomson LLP in 2020, Patrick articled with a Saskatoon firm specializing in Union side labour law, and then worked for a general service firm as an associate.
Patrick maintains a general practice, focusing on: criminal defence; labour, employment and human rights; civil litigation, civil and criminal appeals and; administrative law. He has appeared successfully before all levels of Court in Saskatchewan, and regularly represents clients in matters before administrative tribunals, having handled matters before: the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, the Worker’s Compensation
Board, the Automobile Injury Appeal Commission, and Saskatchewan Public Service Commission, Adjudicators appointed pursuant to the Canada Labour Code, Labour Arbitrators and Boards of Arbitration.
Patrick lives in Saskatoon with his wife, young daughter, and dog and when not working enjoys spending time with them at home, at the lake, or wherever they may be.
Tanya Schurko
Head of Operations / Paralegal
Tanya was born and raised in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. She obtained her Legal Assistant Diploma and
then studied at the University of Saskatchewan and obtained a Bachelor of Arts. She has worked as a
legal assistant for many years in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. Before joining Ward Mischuk
Thomson LLP in 2020, Tanya worked as the office manager for many years at a local Saskatoon law firm.
She has extensive experience assisting lawyers in the areas of civil law, corporate, real estate, criminal,
and adult guardianships. In addition, Tanya has extensive experience with bookkeeping, payroll
administration and office management.
When Tanya is not busy keeping the office running, she enjoys golfing, is an avid animal lover, and
enjoys staying active.
